Our journey

Our history reflects a steady evolution, growing from a local company into a significant player in the international potato industry. At Aviko Rixona, we continue to build on this legacy, focusing on delivering high-quality potato solutions.

Our roots trace back to 1926 in Warffum, The Netherlands, where our first factory still operates today. Originally named Wilco (Willemsen Company), this small Dutch company laid the foundation for a lasting relationship with potatoes.

A new identity: Rixona

In 1956, Wilco became Rixona after the acquisition by Mr. Rieks and his sons. This transition marked the beginning of a new era, focusing on the development of potato products.

Becoming Aviko Rixona

The year 1985 was a turning point when we joined Aviko, a prominent name in the potato processing industry. This merger introduced our new name: Aviko Rixona. It signified the beginning of a chapter filled with growth opportunities. In 2005, we expanded by acquiring the Oostrum factory near Venray, which now serves as our headquarters. This acquisition significantly enhanced our production capabilities and strategic presence in the region.

In 2016, a notable milestone took place when we increased our potato flake production in Oostrum, Venray, The Netherlands.  This expansion was necessary to meet the growing demand for our products. Building on this success, we further increased our flake production capacity in Venray in 2023. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to growth and excellence in the potato processing industry.
